A Lens for Viewing….How people seek and retrieve information, as well as how people understand, interpret, value, and share information are important concepts that inform the work of the information professional. A professional community that supports and promotes research and activity in the field drives practice and encourages professional development.

Having a lens to interpret information provides an important perspective for the information professional working in either a private corporate setting/consulting role, or a public setting such as a library, archive, or museum. In the public setting, outreach to the public is integral to best practice and the sustainability of library, archives, museums, and memory institutions collectively.
