The Infinity of Lists

“Eco articulates lists as a means for cultural order and form in the attempt to convey what is otherwise beyond articulation”~ Susan Mancino, 2017.

When we think of lists, we think of the work of the librarian and the archivist, and the goal of organizing information. Yet, how we choose to organize information and what we choose to include or exclude should not necessarily be left up to presumption or tradition. Lists are concrete representations that can provide direction; yet, thinking about them abstractly is a process that inspires reflection and invites us to challenge the status quo.

By seeing the list through Umberto Eco’s eyes (using art and literature), we are challenged to rethink the list and add dimension to how we see truth and approach information.
